Every time I take a few minutes and look at an outline, or another video.....my jaw hits the floor. I simply have no words for how brazen they are being. I simply cannot imagine any person that attended because of an invite, looking and thinking this is normal.

Does the governing body know what they are doing?
by Gefangene inwhat do you guys think?.
are they only some uber religious zealots or do they pursue hidden agendas beyond religiosity?.

I personally believe that the GB are true believers. Like most big corporate machines, the reigns easily get away from them, but they think what they are doing is right and just. All of them are cult members too.
I think recent poor choices in these videos make this even more apparent.

Holy crap!!!
I just can't even place this stuff. Facepalms don't seem to do it. A lot of head rubbing and brow furrowing seems right. But man.......this is next level garbage.
It strikes me that this would be so obviously off putting to any "guests". This has to prove the handing out of the invitations is just busy work.
This is simply insanity.

Study Article for 29th May 2016 "Jehovah's Guidance"
by BluesBrother inif this is up already and i missed it , - apologies..... today's study article ,from march study wt , is entitled " jehovah guides his people in the way of life"....theme is is.
30.21 " and your own ears will hear a word behind you saying, “this is the way.
walk in it,” in case you should go to the right or in case you should go to the left".

I find it interesting when you confront JW's with what seems like a very clear teaching such as Jehovah killing all non-JW's, or the GB's direction being treated on par with the word of God......that they go through mental gymnastics to avoid having to cop to this.
I can't figure out if they don't want to admit it, or are simply engaging in self deception.

JW Video Armageddon to occur before 2040
by Listener insorry i thought it was a new morning worship video but it is 6 months old and has already been discussed on here.. it is presented by gb helper k flodin and about this generation.
the delusion and hypocrisy runs deep.. he reminds the cult members not to speculate because they aren't supposed to know the day or the hour.
then he proceeds to speculate that armageddon will occur before 2040.. https://tv.jw.org/#en/video/vodprogramsevents/pub-jwbmw_201511_3_video.

Well......using his actual words, he is actually not endorsing what "some people have speculated" as it coming in the 2040 time (assumeing someone 40 years old annointed in 1990, lived to be 80). He specifically says Jesus wasn't communicating some sort of formula.
He then goes on to double talk saying that nowhere is it said the overlapping generation members need to be "old and decrepit" when the end comes. This insinuates instead it will be sooner.
Always important to be able to speak doubletalk when considering these broadcasts.

O......M......G
My mouth is literally open sitting here trying to place this. Its ballsy. Really ballsy. I can't imagine anyone not a JW seeing this, and being ok with it. Its way off the reservation. It tells me those in charge are not evil, just true believers to the point of delusion.
The points that will be "gleaned" from this are the following.
- If you have a child disfellowshipped, if they are not a minor they should not be in your home.
- The person disfellowshipped wrongs others because of their hurt feelings. You left Jehovah, now I have to shun you, and its your fault.
- Humiliation is fine
- Disfellowshipping is merciful......before you would just be killed.
- Even the most basic contact, will make them thing they don't have to come back....adn the DF'd person knows this. (don't even answer their phone calls).
How in a free society, can this be something ADVOCATED PUBLICLY, without consequence.

Newspaper article on Conventions—why so glowing?
by Londo111 inevery year in dozens of cities where conventions are being held, newspapers typically write an article about the event.
there are exceptions, but usually it is like the articles above.
i would love to see more newspaper articles that did some actual objective reporting, rather than puff pieces.

You are hard to get a beat on DY. I don't think discussing why there are always the fluff pieces that exist, is not accentuating the positive.
Yes, JW's are well dressed (recent memos explain how that is being controlled), clean shaven (by decree), and they are attending. I personally look forward to the wonderful talk "show loyalty by shunning unrepentant wrongdoers". How lovely!
I think the main thing here, is just what is the motivation of the newspapers to run these things.
I personally think there is simply a media outreach arm. these are local papers/news outlets, and they always need new local goings ons to report.

Died Due To Refusing Blood Transfusion
by rrb2016 inwell, last monday my mother, a jehovah's witness since her baptism in 1968 died last week because she would not accept a blood transfusion.
she was 76 and had lung and skin cancer.
i know that the cancer would have gotten her anyway, but she was bleeding internally, and was told that she needs a blood transfusion, as her blood count went all the way down to 3.2 (should be 12-14.

I am very sorry for your loss.
this horribly misguided doctrine is what woke me up. People still sacrifice themselves in this manner. In fairness, your mother was older, and battling many things, but to not even have this in the toolbelt of the doctors, is to handicap the people trying to save or elongate your life. Its so misguided. I hope that misguided or not, her faith gave her peace in her last few days.
I hate the "she is alive in Jah's memory" garbage too. they simply have no idea how to grieve or support those who are.

disfellowshipped wife, husband still a jw
by thereishope ini'm new here and haven't introduced myself yet, but have been lurking for the past couple of weeks and learned so much!
quick first question: if i get disfellowshipped for researching info on websites other than jw.org (the official website), how can i expect to be treated by my husband still in the truth?
ie what will he be told by the elders about how to treat me?
-
problemaddict 2
You cant be disfellowshipped for looking at web sites. No reason to share that info with them though.
My suggestion with your husband (if you have a good marriage and love him), would be to be honest yet tactful with him. He is probably trippin because of your change of heart, and if he is a good man and you guys are in love, I think it would be good to honor that relationship by being honest, giving him well thought out reasons (if he wants to discuss). Of course, this has to be done tactfully.
Only you know what is best.
May I ask what has made you decide it is no longer "the truth".?

Help needed: transgender people and other unclear topics
by TeaBiscuit infirst of all, i am not quite sure whether this is the right place to ask my questions.
if this is not really appropriate, please tell me in advance, but i really did not know who to turn to, so i thought why not ask the internet... now, i know many of you are apostates and i'm not really looking for "leave it all behind you" answers, but really for experiences, thoughts and ideas... as well as maybe some verses if you can think of any.. anyway, first things first.
since this is very anonymous and i'd like to keep it that way, i will not give you my name, but still, i think some background info might be helpful.

Teabiscuit,
I don't have direct experience in this but I have had conversations with a couple elders recently about this very thing. it is absolutely true, that if somone was to be baptized as a JW, they would need to acknowledge and identify as the sex they were physically born into. There is ZERO understanding of this type of thing. The guys I spoke to are pretty liberal and open, and they were just horrible regarding the entire subject.
that being said, this is not likely to come up. However, if you think this is cruel, you have barely scratched the surface. I was until a couple years ago a pioneer, served in a spanish speaking country, gave talks, worked on the RBC, and much more. I realize you kind of mentioned people here as "apostates", but that is something i think is derogatory and unkind. I would encourage you to abandon that kind of loaded language in order to foster real conversation.
Ask your self if any of the doctrines below are cruel?
You can be disfellowshipped for things like celebrating a birthday, or mothers day, or disagreeing with a "current" teaching of the governing body. If you were baptized when you were 11, and then when yo are 25you decide you do not want to be int he religion, you can be disfellowshipped, and then communally shunned by 8 million people including your family not living with you. There is no biblical support for this, or the three elder judicial comitee arrangement. Does this sound cruel to you?
JW's in the case in particular of the Australian royal commission, have been very specifically proven to have put their reputation and desire to save face, above protecting children not just in the congregations, but in society at large. Does this sound cruel?
Currently if you take certain blood products in good conscience, you can be disfellowshipped if anyone found out. this despite a changing target of a doctrine that has changed multiple times. Even if your conscience says "hey.....white blood cells are only 2% of blood and are forbidden, but Albumin is 6% of blood and is ok......that makes no sense and i will decide for myself.....", you will be disfellowshipped. Does this sound cruel?
I personally stpped attending meetings, but have not sought to draw people away from their religion. I avoid the conversation, live a good life taking care of my family and others, and have been a good friend to many. Despite the fact I am not reproved, disfellowshipped, or otherwise doing anything of note (I don't do X-mas or flaunt any other things I currently do such as voting......another thing you can be DF'd for), I have lost several friends. They choose to shun me simply because I don't go to meetings anymore. Does that sound cruel to you?
I would encourage you to learn more about these things. Once you are baptized, there is an incredible amount of control you hand over in your life to these men.
